Elle est tr\u00e8s mal connue, tout comme Neptune, car la seule sonde \u00e0 \u00eatre pass\u00e9e assez pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;Uranus a \u00e9t\u00e9 la sonde Voyager 2 en 1986.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 20px;\"><i><b><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 2<\/span><\/b><\/i> est la seconde des deux sondes spatiales du programme <i><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span><\/i>. Son lancement a eu lieu le <time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1977-08-20\">20 ao\u00fbt 1977<\/time>. Comme <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 1<\/span><\/i>, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue et r\u00e9alis\u00e9e au <span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Jet Propulsion Laboratory<\/span> pr\u00e8s de Pasadena en Californie. Techniquement identique \u00e0 <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 1<\/span><\/i>, <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 2<\/span><\/i> a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e sur une trajectoire plus lente et plus courb\u00e9e, ce qui a permis de la maintenir dans le plan de l&rsquo;\u00e9cliptique (o\u00f9 se trouvent les plan\u00e8tes du Syst\u00e8me solaire). Ainsi, elle a pu \u00eatre dirig\u00e9e vers les plan\u00e8tes gazeuses avec un survol de Jupiter (juillet 1979), de Saturne (ao\u00fbt 1981), d&rsquo;Uranus (janvier 1986) puis de Neptune (ao\u00fbt 1989) en utilisant l&rsquo;assistance gravitationnelle lors de tous ces survols. C&rsquo;est aujourd&rsquo;hui le seul engin spatial \u00e0 s&rsquo;\u00eatre approch\u00e9 d&rsquo;Uranus et de Neptune et \u00e0 les avoir survol\u00e9s. La configuration particuli\u00e8re des quatre plan\u00e8tes g\u00e9antes qui a rendu leurs survols successifs possibles ne se reproduit que tous les <span class=\"nowrap\">176 ans<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 20px;\">Avec <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Pioneer<\/span> 10<\/span><\/i>, <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Pioneer<\/span> 11<\/span><\/i>, <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 1<\/span><\/i> et <span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\"><i>New Horizons<\/i><\/span>, <i><span class=\"nowrap\"><span class=\"lang-en\" lang=\"en\">Voyager<\/span> 2<\/span><\/i> est l&rsquo;une des cinq sondes spatiales \u00e0 suivre une trajectoire quittant le Syst\u00e8me solaire. En 2015, la sonde avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 parcouru depuis la Terre une distance de <span class=\"nowrap\">25 milliards<\/span> de kilom\u00e8tres (173 UA) et continue (comme Voyager 1) \u00e0 envoyer des donn\u00e9es scientifiques sur son environnement <span class=\"nowrap\">40 ans<\/span> apr\u00e8s son lancement. En ao\u00fbt<time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"2017-03-13\"> 2017<\/time>, la sonde \u00e9tait \u00e0 environ <span class=\"nowrap\">17,7 milliards de&nbsp; kilom\u00e8tres<\/span> (<span class=\"nowrap\">117 unit\u00e9s astronomiques<abbr class=\"abbr\" title=\"unit\u00e9s astronomiques\"><\/abbr><\/span>) du Soleil. Voyager 1 et 2 sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 sortis de la ceinture de Kuiper et se trouvent \u00e0 la limite de l&rsquo;h\u00e9liosph\u00e8re et du vide interstellaire. Les rayons cosmiques enregistr\u00e9s r\u00e9cemment par ces sondes sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 4 fois plus intenses que dans le syst\u00e8me solaire interne. Les 2 sondes continuent leur voyage, \u00e0 plus de 48.000 km\/h vers des horizons inconnus&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 20px;\">Revenons \u00e0 Uranus : avec un diam\u00e8tre d&rsquo;environ 4 fois celui de la Terre, Uranus est la 3\u00b0 plan\u00e8te du syst\u00e8me solaire par sa taille. Elle est un peu plus grosse que sa voisine Neptune mais un peu moins massive. Au moment du survol d&rsquo;Uranus on ne connaissait que 5 satellites \u00e0 cette plan\u00e8te. Voyager 2 en d\u00e9couvre 10 nouveaux, d&rsquo;assez petite taille. Depuis on en a d\u00e9couvert encore 14 autres qui portent le nombre de lunes d&rsquo;Uranus \u00e0 29. On avait \u00e9galement d\u00e9couvert depuis la Terre les anneaux d&rsquo;Uranus, du moins certains d&rsquo;entre eux. On sait maintenant que les anneaux d&rsquo;Uranus sont au nombre de 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 20px;\">Uranus ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverte par un anglais, l&rsquo;astronome William Herschel en 1781, ce ne sont pas des noms de dieux ou demi-dieux ou bien de personnages mythologiques qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9s aux satellites d&rsquo;Uranus, mais des noms de personnages de la litt\u00e9rature anglaise, trouv\u00e9s dans les \u0153uvres de William Shakespeare et Alexander Pope. Les 5 principaux satellites d&rsquo;Uranus s&rsquo;appellent (du plus gros au plus petit, par diam\u00e8tres en km) Titania (1578), Ob\u00e9ron (1523), Umbriel (1169), Ariel (1159) et Miranda (474).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif; font-size: 20px;\">La plus grande bizarrerie d&rsquo;Uranus est sa rotation sur elle-m\u00eame. Uranus tourne dans le m\u00eame sens autour du Soleil que toutes les plan\u00e8tes du syst\u00e8me solaire, mais contrairement aux autres plan\u00e8tes (sauf V\u00e9nus qui tourne \u00e0 l&rsquo;envers avec un mouvement \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9trograde\u00a0\u00bb), Uranus a un axe de rotation presque couch\u00e9 et align\u00e9 avec la ligne de son orbite autour du Soleil. De plus, cette rotation est r\u00e9trograde.
